Vermont Weekend, Part 1.

Vermont Weekend | Sally's Baking Addiction

Wanted to share some photos from our incredibly relaxing and much-needed vacation up in Vermont! Kevin and I (and Jude!) spent a long weekend there with our good friends and their Labradoodle, Bogey. Went skiing, played with the pups, watched the snow fall, sipped wine, played cards, relaxed by the fire, cooked, snacked, and everything in between.

It was picture perfect.

Kevin got me the weekend getaway for Christmas. I’ve been wanting to take a weekend vacation with Jude for awhile now– since I didn’t get to spend too much time with him in the Fall when I was touring. (Dog moms, you get me.) We stayed at Mountain Top Inn & Resort, a short drive from Killington Mountain where we went skiing and snowboarding. Our friends had been there before and recommended we go– because it’s a total must-see, must-experience, complete heaven on earth. Seriously!

Especially in the icy cold winter.

We stayed in a cottage not far from the lodge and spa. The massage and sauna, especially on a frigid snowy day, were epic! I’d go back just for a day at the spa again. And the breathtaking scenery.

The pups couldn’t get out of the cold. They romped around for a couple hours playing, digging, jumping, prancing, barking, smiling.

The best weekend we could’ve asked for. More pictures to come!

  2. Wow! I can almost feel  the cold.
Here is summer in South Africa and I would LOVE to have the snow here. Unfortunately for us, we dont ever get snow.
It looks AMAZING and your pictures are GREAT!

  3. What a picture-perfect weekend! Jude looks super-happy to spend some QT with his mama!

  4. Wow….Sally incredible pics! Thanks for sharing!!!

  5. Hi Sally, so I must ask…..being a beginner (very beginner) photographer….with a nice new camera all ready to go! How did you get so good? Do you recommend I take online courses (i.e,, betterphotos.com) ia live class at a college? Read the Manual from cover to cover? I did get the Canon EOS Rebal T5 for dummies book! 🙂 What is your best recommendation for beginner photographers…..who don’t have a clue? I know practicing is the best but I need to get comfortable with this camera and it’s functions too which I know the manual will help with. Any advice from a pro?

  6. My gosh, Jude and his buddy are the happiest looking dogs. Glad you had so much fun!

  7. Wow oh wow! Jude is totally smiling in all pictures. I wonder what mine would do with snow. Probably bundle up with me. 🙂

  8. What stunning photos!! Makes me want to travel and take photos of EVERYTHING! I actually have the same question as Sharon about how you got so good at photography. I just this past weekend bought the Canon Rebel T6s with a 18-135mm lens. I’ve taken some photos of my cat and Christmas tree (which really needs to come down)… But what would you recommend I focus my efforts on first? ISO? Aperture?

    • Practice practice practice! Take hundreds and thousands of pictures. I’ve been shooting now for… 4 and 1/2 years, so it takes time to learn the ropes. Focus your efforts on playing with the manual settings. Here’s a little more on photography if you want a simple-to-understand read!

  9. What a beautiful getaway! Totally love that Jude got to go too. He looks like he is smiling in every picture. So cute!

  10. Love the pictures! How quaint and perfect – glad you had such a wonderful getaway! Jude looks huge next to you!! 🙂

  11. A much deserved vacation! Glad you had a great time!!!

  12. Glad you and the pups enjoyed VT!  It’s my favorite place ever, but I might be biased because I live here 🙂  Great photos too.

  13. Hahaha aw the puppies do look like they’re smiling! Too cute!
