Vanilla sprinkles candle

I’ve been having a lot of fun with Lightroom presets lately. Basically, they are filters you can place on your photos when you are editing in Lightroom. When I edit food photography for my business, I make my own presets based on the lighting in my house and the food I’m shooting. That way I can set the preset to all of the photos I took in that particular photoshoot. I like my food images to be clear, bright, and colorful. But with fun photography like this, I love playing around with creative presets– just like the filters you see on Instagram! They usually apply a softer look to images, which isn’t really something I want with my food blog photography.

If you’re interested in checking it out, I bought and downloaded presets from Really Nice Images. There are free presets out there too, just give it a quick google search. Hope your summer off to a fabulous start!

PS: my friend got me the sprinkles candle from here!

Shot with my Canon 5D Mark iiiCanon 24-70mm f/2.8L and Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L lenses.

  1. Beautiful flowers! And I love those doggy photos. 🙂

  2. Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing.

  3. Your puppies are precious! My husband and I are adopting our first puppy together next week. His name is Jax and I am so so so excited!!! You are partially to blame for my “puppy fever”! Haha! Loved all the pictures!

  4. In Houston, we crashed right into summer about 2 months ago, so I’m rather jealous of your experience!! But these were dreamy, beautiful photos. And I second the comment on the dogs!!

  5. This is so exciting! We get to watch Franklin grow up! I love it!!

  6. Are those zucchini? Mmmm… grilled vegetables are sooo good.

Same sentiments here, I want my food shots crisp and clear. Yours are superb as always.

  7. How cute is Franklin! OMG cannot get enough of these pics. He is the cutest 🙂

  8. Sally, I’m just now starting my blog and before I upload photos I want to protect them with my watermark. What program do you use to watermark you photos? I don’t have Photoshop, I won’t be messing with that monster, so I’m looking for something easy to use.

    • Hi Kristine! I use Lightroom to apply my edits as well as my watermark. I recommend Lightroom as an editing software because it’s affordable and massively user-friendly.

  9. Are those your roses? They are gorgeous! Do you know what kind they are?

Mine just got devoured by deer two days ago so I definitely have rose envy!! I cooked up a nice treat for the deer, though, involving hot sauce and eggs. Maybe for your next cookbook? 😉

  10. Um, so, I’d like to come spend summer at your house. Mimosas and puppies? Salad with bacon? Where do I sign up?

  11. The strawberry desert looks ah-mazing! And the flower shot was one of my favorites!
