Fall Days!

Fall Days | Sally's Baking Addiction

Happy November! I figured it was time for another fall photography post, where you can learn just how obsessed I am with taking pictures of… leaves. Please tell me you share this addiction.

These are the golden months where colorful nature is in high gear. I’m so grateful to live in a place that has 2ish months of this beauty.

October was hectic as I begin writing Sally’s Cookie Addiction. Not only this, we traveled quite a bit and had a few house projects to complete. It often feels never-ending (and, let’s honest, overwhelming)  and there are days I just want to crawl back under the covers. But I find that scheduling quick weekend vacations, a day trip to the pumpkin patch, or even simply making a meal with Kevin motivates me to cross all of the rest off my list. These breaks are my permission to myself to go out and live life! They give my mind a chance to rest, which makes those non-work activities and adventures even more enjoyable.

Have you ever been in the same boat?

Speaking of adventures… we just arrived to Napa Valley, CA for the week 🙂

  1. LOVE the Corn Husks Pic! They’re all beautiful Pics, Sally! Happy Fall!!

  2. Sorry Sally, It takes me 2/3 hours daily raking them up and at 81 it kills my back. as beautiful as they are I HATE THEM lol

  3. Absolutely gorgeous! Do you have one setting you always stay in to shoot? I’ve got to start carrying my camera around!

  4. Sally, I’m right there with you re: your obsession with pretty colourful leaves! I just can’t get enough of them! My favourite season is this time: sunny, colourful fall weather, when the leaves are in all different kinds of colour, and pumpkins and mums add even more brightness to the fading green of nature.

Also, I love your photography/life posts so much!

  5. I love the mix of nature and food photography, as well as the dog! I’m on a photography course myself, so I might add a photo journal of the month to my blog too. Sounds like you’d a busy month of it!

    Honestly Aine

  6. Welcome back to Norcal! 🙂 If you’re staying up in Napa for the week, you should considering trekking out to Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and even Healdsburg. Santa Rosa, Sonoma, and Healdsburg are great places for wine tasting as well and it’s not so touristy as Napa! If you get sick of wine tasting…
Santa Rosa has a brewery called Russian River that’s pretty famous…they have an awesome happy hour on Sundays 🙂
But you should definitely check out Lagunitas in Petaluma, which is so so fun to go to. They also have a bigger selection of beers on tap and you cannot get a lot of them in stores. I’d probably go on a weekday so it’s less crowded, but sometimes they have live music on weekends so it is more fun 🙂

  7. Omg didn’t realize that you were so great at photography of all kinds. It all looks fantastic, happy November back at ya (:

  8. I LOVE the fall photos, beautiful as always. We went to New Hampshire 2 different times this fall and my phone is now full of fall foliage pics. The color up there is so gorgeous. I agree with you on taking time out breaks and rejuvenating yourself to cross off all things on your to list. Especially with the holidays coming up. I can’t wait to hear more about the cookbook. Good luck & have fun in California.

  9. I just now got a chance to see these and they are stunning. I so love your photography blog, thanks so much for sharing!!

  10. here i am from my computer… 🙂

some of those shots look super familiar and make me smile. your photos are gorgeous my dear! xo

  11. I haven’t taken a peek at your photography blog in awhile and these pictures are terrific, as usual. Reminds me that I need to take my Nikon home at the holidays this year and play around with it. I always enjoy the unexpected details shots….especially with bokeh. You do a great job with that. Someone took a shot of a small vase of flowers at an anniversary party I organized and it was my favorite photo of the day.

Oh, Jude…he has gotten a little gray! Such a sweet boy! Looks perfectly game to be dressed up for Halloween!

Have you seen the small lenses you can get for your phone? I got a set and it was fun taking pictures of bugs this summer. 🙂
